Nomade Express Slee...
My pet peeve is celebrating furniture for its looks as opposed to function.
In my books, a sofa must be both attractive and comfortable; there are so many great sofas out there, that it shouldn't be difficult to find models which fulfill both of these requirements.
Now, I could be wrong, but when I look at these sectionals, a number of them look uncomfortable just from the picture.
Uno Lobster looks to have too shallow a seat to be comfortable, whereas the green, orange and blue sectionals look like they have uncomfortable cushions (I've learned to be very suspicious about loose cushions), and the red one has too low a back to be comfortable.
Sigh.
@mschatelaine
You are correct. I purchsed the blu dot sofa in the picture in grey. IT is the most amazing looking sofa in my living room, but it is horribly uncomfortable. You can sit and have a very upright conversation but you really have to pile on the pillows to relax on it.
Correction: I own the Bonnie Sofa from Bludot. Not pictured here, sorry for that.
After trying many, and looking for a 'reasonable' price, I bought a modern comforter via Dania...

I love it. It's low, and the back is low too, but it has head rests that pop up to give more support. We love lounging on it, love the upholstery (we got the dark brown one), and love that it comfortably sits lots of guests and have had lots of overnighters on it as well. So far it has by far been the biggest splurge in my condo and we hope to keep it for a long time.
I said comforter. I don't know why. I meant sectional, lol. Good thing it's Friday.
Of course my favorite is the one that costs $6000!
I've been looking for a clean-looking, MCM-inspired sectional for a very, very long time. It seems as though you can't find a comfortable/stylish one without breaking the bank. So far, my forerunner seems to be the Room & Board Reese or Jasper models, but I'm hoping to find a gently used one on Craigslist rather than spending $3k on a brand new one.
I'm actually intrigued by the overstock.com sectional. The fact that it's just a sofa with an ottoman that can be configured on either side means it's not *technically* a sectional, but you can at least lounge on it. Unfortunately there are no reviews posted at this time - would love to know if it's comfortable. After spending months searching for a sectional to complement my 70s danish decor and finally decided I wanted to be comfortable while I looked and bought a pretty amazing (and gigantic) one for only $150 at an estate sale. @Lynell: Now that the pressure is off I may have to check out that Dania furniture site - it seems VERY affordable compared to some of these (Jonathan Adler, whewwww!!) pieces and the one you got is AMAZING!!
before purchasing my sectional, I took a lot of time & lounged on the store display models testing them for nap-ability. I chose the comfy one.
I gotta second Dania for affordable MCM furniture. I know they aren't a full national brand so maybe that's why they are overlooked on this site, but their styles and price are pretty stellar, also they have a lot of made in america furniture.
also I gotta say that the way these are ordered ( clockwise in an almost vertical picture) and listed is confusing
Ofcourse the one I like is the most expensive...
i was looking at all of them and i was thinking "these are all ok...OH but the last one is amazing!!!"
until I saw that it was adler and six grand....damn you expensive taste!!
Oh the Karlstad. That's been on my to buy list for awhile. Except the colour I want is so not user friendly with kids.
It should be noted that the Uno sofa is $999 for just one section, $2000 for both sections.
We have an Ikea sof--the Kivik--that could be a sectional (we just bought the regular sofa part) and really don't love it. The cushion covers slide all over the place, particularly on the seats, and the back cushions are already out of shape and it hasn't yet been a year. We have a very narrow entrance space to our house and so had to get something either short/small or assembleable--we have lots of regrets bout this one. The tweed fabric is cute, but that's about all it has going for it.
