You may remember Jaime's son Fionn's room was featured here this past September. Now she's started her own blog and kicks things off with some great overall tips for the nursery...
A few of her tips:
• Mix things up- it's fine to mix vintage and modern- Eames and Ikea- new and old- you get the idea. In fact, it makes for a much more interesting room.
• "Embrace Your History" Passing along special items will really enrich the room.
• Storage, storage, storage!
• Go beyond pink and blue for a color scheme
• Splurge on the things that matter- balance out somewhere else. For example, she suggests if you love Serena & Lily bedding- going with the Gulliver crib from IKEA.

Jaime's design comments demonstrate that an eclectic mix of designs, colors and price points can create that special "something" which will make a kid's room special. Consumers are often led to believe that you must spend great amounts of money to design a room that is pleasing, tasteful and interesting. Obviously, Ms. Klein clearly prove that the opposite is true. Finally, a voice of both style and reason. Hooray!
oh freaking great. another blog that will only prevent me from getting things done during the day!!! why must you do this to me ohdeedoh...
As a designer of nurseries and children' rooms since 1983 I have seen so many changes in what a nursery should have and not have. However, I always try to incorporate old and new, handmade with retail and hi tech with software. It all brings a dimension to the room that it evolved over time, allows for additions and creates a sense of history.
