Of course, you have permission to do anything you want. It's your home, after all. But sometimes with the more daring ideas — the kind of wacky ones — we all need a little push to get us over the edge of reservation. So here's that push for you. We think these eight ideas are totally okay to try out in your home — which one will you play around with?

Wallpaper a small space

We're told light colors expand a space. But bold colors and patterns expand the fun of a small room! It's more than okay to add some wild wallpaper to a super tiny part of your home like a bathroom or an entryway. And bonus — with smaller surface area to cover you can save some dough and splurge on a pattern you really adore.

Paint your molding a bold color

Hey it's not for everyone or every room. But when it works, painting your room's molding is pretty outstanding.

Paint your kitchen cabinets a bold color

Nothing spices up a kitchen faster than splashing bold color on the cabinets, so pick a hue that sings to you and work it on the lowers and/or the bottom cabinets.

Paint your ceiling

It might seem like a crazy idea, but the proof is in the photos of rooms looking amazing by sporting a little color up high.

Incorporate your bike into your decor

Many city dwellers simply don't have the room or ability to store their bikes outside, so they must look for more creative ways to store them within sight in their homes. And you know what, sometimes it works.

Use plates as wall decoration

If you've got an extra collection of plates that are just too good looking to eat off of, you might consider displaying them on a wall, instead!

Use ANYTHING as wall decoration

Actually, anything — from banjos to concert tickets — can be made into pretty cool wall decoration when arranged with purpose. Go for it!

Not put anything on the wall at all

It's not forgetting to put art up on the wall; it's choosing not to. And leaving it blank is as bold as a move as filling it up.
