White Enamel Flatwa...
DIY art is one of those things that seems to look great when other people do it, but really craptastic when I make it myself. More power to creative people. BTW, I love the Little Green Notebook and Centsational Girl blogs.
Nice ideas, especially the poem on canvas, but that particular e.e. cummings poem is everywhere (I've seen it printed and framed in many homes, and it has to be the most read poem at weddings in recent history). It's a beautiful poem, but some originality in home decor is nice.
I took note from Alisa Burke's poem on canvas a few months back, but switched it up with my favorite poem by Robert Frost. Aaannnndddd I used good ol' acrylic paint instead of shoe polish.
Now we are renovating, and it doesn't quite fit anymore (it's huge!), but still a favorite project that I would recommend to anyone.

these are so great- I like the sparkle art, but afraid that when seen in real life (read:no special lighting or angles) it would look like exactly what it is- diy!
I love the map by remodelholic. My son would love :)
Registered to comment just so I could say I looove e.e. cummings!!! (in reference to the his poem on canvas). Definitely want to do something similar, and with the same poem.
Can we be a little more careful about how we identify things and refer to these examples as DIY decoration? There is nothing wrong with decoration but it has different intentions and contexts than art.
SMIHILIST ... Huh?
I love the graphic nature of the shoe polish on canvas. Kudos!! I'm gonna try this.
I recently made art for my office using twine and metal office clips. It was so cheap and I can change it as my mood changes. I have photos on my blog.
