Why I use color:

I use color simply because I love color and the way it can transform a room.

2 Good color tips:

1. If you're like me and have a lot of wood furniture, think carefully about how your color will clash/mesh with your wood tone. for instance, warm tones work with walnut, cool tones complement birch/blondes etc. this is not to say that you could not pair black accents with blonde wood - just that you'd need to approach this combo carefully and skillfully.

2. If you're painting a wall a dark or saturated color, have your paint store tint your primer. i found out about this after i'd done my reddish accent wall in three coats. tinted primer can save you one coat's worth of work!

2 good color resources:

1. reprodepot.com is a great fabric site i look to for inspiration on color patterns/mixes gone by.

2. Go out and buy five fashion or decor magazines and flip through them. rip out pages of whatever inspires you, stick it in a folder for ideas later after you've had time to let the impulse die down, and then take a good look again at what you like, what combinations work aethestically for you, etc - and then make it happen.
