What I Love About My Small Home:

Because it's small, it's also very intimate. We do have an open floor plan in the kitchen and living area (which we love), but it's just the right size for a group of friends to gather and linger over the counter, on the couch, and around the coffee table. Scott's favorite thing? He can vacuum the whole home using just one outlet!

What can I say about New York that hasn't been said before? New York is the city that needs no introduction and definitely warrants a visit at least once in a lifetime. Whether you're sightseeing, museum hopping, shopping in luxury, catching a Broadway show, or just taking in the energy of a city always alive, the options are seemingly unlimited. It was difficult to narrow it down to 10 apps, but here are my favorites for navigating the city that never sleeps.

Q: My sister picked up this chair at a flea market. A sweaty shirtless guy had been sitting on it all day. When he began packing up at the end of the day, he sold it to her for around $30.
She didn't have a place for it so I took it. It's in fairly good condition. The velvet along the front edge is worn a bit and the veneer on the swivel base is lifting up in some areas. It is incredibly comfortable and after a really good cleaning, it's a keeper. 

As the daughter of a painter and an organic farmer, artist Molly Hatch spent her youth alternating between creative play and physical labor. This early training ground would prove important later in life, providing the discipline and hard work for life as an artist. Today, Molly's colorful designs and illustrations adorn tableware, wallpaper and furniture.

Simply my favorite tape dispenser. Why? Because it is heavy enough to hold the tape roll however you pull with one hand, and it cuts easily. Other's look good, but don't do the job this well.

YouTube is a great alternative to cable for children thanks to the short running times and endless programming available. But YouTube can also open the doors to some undesirable avenues. I'm sure we all have a horror story or two of clicking on something that didn't turn out to be what you thought it was, but there are scarier consequences when it happens to a child.

Maybe it's the librarian in me, worried about damaging a book, even a used paperback, but the idea of reading in a warm tub sounds a lot more relaxing than it actually is. Which is why I love this simple and clever tip devised by an 8-year-old.

When Lizzie joined her husband Phil in his Victorian tenement flat three years ago, it was a little lacking in personality. Since then, it is fair to say that the space has been completely transformed. Utterly offended by the huge expanse of magnolia, she attacked it with gusto, desperate to breathe some life and color into the walls and make the flat an expression and extension of their style, a place that really felt like home. 

The key to making a table lamp is finding the correct socket set-up and mount. Some readymade kits already exist but, otherwise, you have to figure out what works best for your chosen vessel-turned-lamp base. I myself had a random wooden vase/candleholder that perfectly accommodated a basic globe shade from the hardware store. It was screaming to become a lamp, and I was more than happy to oblige.
