At first glance, Tina's studio-home looks like every other normal, suburban home. Except for the fact that there are no beds, there are portraits covering the walls, and oh yeah — there's a reception desk in the living room! This is Tina Wilson's office-house; she set it up to not only make her clients feel welcome and at home, but to show them how portraits can work in an interior design setting. She has an innate sense of design, and marries her unique style to her passion for encouraging folks to surround themselves with images that speak to them, remind them of who they are and those they love.

While vintage design lovers have been enjoying the metallic pop of brass for years, we've been noticing a trend in current modern furniture design toward brass accents: hardware, handles and even modern accessories. If you've been indulging in the modern versions of this metal, then you might need (or want) a few vintage brass items to help balance out the space. More

Above ground pools get a bad rap. It's true that they can be less than elegant sometimes, but, as seen here, they can also be just as lovely as traditional swimming pools. More

I don't know if you're anything like me, but when I was a kid I had glow in the dark plastic stars scattered across my ceiling so I could look up at them at night. There is something that is both soothing and overwhelming about staring up at the stars at night that being an adult (especially one that lives in the city) can make you tend to forget. Here are a few ways to bring that feeling home, minus the cheesy-but-awesome plastic stars. More

Whether you're a shark or a jet or even a Gypsy, you'll want to check out the estate auction of the late Tony award winning playwright Arthur Laurents. From vintage furniture to artwork and even boxes of miscellaneous collectibles, Broadway fans will be especially interested in this auction. More

When it comes to green buildings, most people think of either sleek, super modern architecture, or weird, organic forms. For the past three years I worked on a LEED Platinum home that was specifically designed to blend into its surroundings. Located in an older north suburb of Chicago, the house was surrounded by hundred-year old buildings, and this project, while using modern technology and building techniques, fits right in. More
