Sarah’s Georgetown apartment is a lovely mix of budget finds & a few splurges. (Image credit: Hado Photo)

Name: Sarah
Location: Georgetown — Washington, D.C.

This is the third apartment I’ve lived in post-grad. I love living alone—it allows me to truly highlight my style (plus, I’m a bit of a neat freak!). I currently live in a one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Georgetown. Although I grew up in the Washington, DC, suburbs, this is my first time living in the area since high school. After college, I lived in NYC and Philadelphia, and I’m loving being back in DC (and especially in Georgetown!). I had fun decorating each apartment, but this is a place I hope to stay in for years (a long commitment for a 20-something!).

What’s special about this apartment? You’d never guess, but I purchased 95 percent of my furniture off of Craigslist! The only things I bought for full price (aka, from a store) were my bed, headboard, couch, and front console table. Everything else has been the result of successful scavenger hunts! I’m all about decorating with style, but as a 25-year-old, it’s important that I stay on a budget. Since I love mixing up my style so much, Craigslist is actually a great option, because I don’t feel too guilty about parting with a $20 side table.

My style is a mix of classic and quirky. I’m obsessed with the set of campaign dressers I purchased off of Craigslist this past winter. I worked with someone local who gave the big dresser a fresh coat of paint, and it’s such a great piece to have in my living room. I also love the bamboo chest my mom and I spray painted blue over the summer (it’s another CL find!).

Thanks, Sarah!
