It's not easy to live in 450 square feet. It's even harder to make such a small space look spacious and airy. Danish designer Nikolaj Eis manages to do both with aplomb at his apartment in Copenhagen.
To be fair, it helps a bit that this isn't his full time residence. Still, the home is replete with smart ideas and color pairings for those of us who do live year-round in smaller spaces (as well as for those of us who don't).
- Well-placed color, including the fuschia shelving unit and yellow stool, enliven the apartment and tie it all together.
- Clever tableaus throughout the space look good without being fussy. Here, Eis plays with scale, setting an oversize desk light over a Muji model of New York City.
- A sculptural chair is artfully paired with a bright print. The unadorned windows let in plenty of sun and make the room look bigger.
- Floor lamps, art hung at different levels, and a textured rug create a quietly quirky corner.
- Sleek cabinets and a unique metal light fixture help define the elegant kitchen and dining area.

I am not a big fan of fuschia but this shelving unit looks amazing!
really glad i got to see this ~ thank you for writing it up!
@New York Muhtari
The shelving unit is Montana - www.montana.dk.
definitely inspires me to pare down. but no amount of paring down will make my low-ceilinged, ground floor apartment with no natural light look airy! sigh.
Actually I think it's 450 square metres, which is considerably bigger than 450 square feet.
But I too love that bookcase.
stationeryfiend: I'm going to assume that" Designer-lejlighed på 42 kvadratmeter" from the source means "42 quadratmeters"! 450 sqaure meters would be close to 5000 square feet!

@ARobin, LOL, fair point!
According to Bolig, the apartment is 42 square meters, which is about 452 square feet. I just rounded down a bit for the post title.
