As someone who works from home, I know the pluses and minuses of the situation and definitely think that the positives far outweigh the negatives, at least for me. That said, one of the challenges is creating a place in a home atmosphere that is functional yet doesn't clash with your design aesthetic - it's all about the balance.
Well, we think Vana, the artist behind the silhouette shop Le Papier Studio, got it just right. She sent us in a link to her post all about her new studio and it's light, bright, cheerful and welcoming.
• Keeping all the furniture white creates cohesion among the different pieces and looks great against the medium gray walls.
• The mix of open storage (to keep things accessible) and plenty of closed storage in the form of containers and a curtained closet (to keep things looking uncluttered) is smart.
• The overall mix of functionality (computer, printer, plenty of paper storage) and pure decoration (artwork, creative containers, cute calendars) seems to in the correct balance to foster creative work and get the job done!
