Paneling tends to get badmouthed quite a bit. I think it is because it reminds people of bad basement renovations where faux wood walls enclosed already too-dark rooms, making a not-so-great space even worse. Over the years we've gotten our fair share of "Good Questions" asking the community how to deal with paneling…

… and they continue to come in to the Apartment Therapy email inbox often enough to make us realize that it is considered a real design "no-no" at this point in time.

To counteract some of that bad mojo, we thought we'd share a few photos from a Dwell feature that show off a really beautiful use of paneling in a home in Canada. A cedar hallway links the bedroom to the great room, creating a warm and cozy passage between two buildings. The motif is picked up again surrounding a porthole window in the bedroom.
