Yesterday, we shared Trent Hultgren's
amazingly creative use of small space. One of our favorite things in his home was his bed. He explained to us that it was actually the closet; prior tenants had put the bed where the couch now stood. Closet no more, it's now an inviting space that underlines the beachy theme of Trent's home and calls to mind his philosophy that "Life should be as good as your favorite vacation."Rather than hide the bed, Trent made it the focal point of the room. He painted the interior a soothing Caribbean blue and piled the bed with pillows with a nautical theme. Plants surrounding the bed, a concrete planter filled with sand and stones, and a collection of glass jars filled with beach finds makes it feel more like a raft or a small ship that's drifted lazily onto the shore.
Even if you don't have to put the bed in the closet, if you're looking for a headboard for your bed that provides a bit of a canopy, consider a freestanding closet or armoire. Note: Check the closet and bed sizes and make sure they fit!
