The DIY play kitchen craze has crossed the Atlantic! Emese and Tamas live in Hungary with their 2-year-old daughter who yearned for a play kitchen and boy did they deliver! They were attracted to Ikea's official play kitchen, but not the price tag so they took matters into their own hands. Not only did Emese and Tamas save money making their own play kitchen, we think it looks even better than the real thing. They also say that it was really fun to design and put together. They used many Ikea parts and pieces including bargains in the "as is" section:
• Grundtal rail
• Grundtal S hook
• Lansa handle
• Panna black coaster
• Svep knob
• Duktig toy kitchen accessories
The sink is an old metal bowl they already owned and they repurposed an old sink tap here. We love that the push light under the shelf works and chalkboard paint gives their daughter a place to write a menu, shopping list or just to draw.
