A Book Reading & Signing for Max

Name: Max (8)
Location: Seattle, Washington

Last winter our 8 year-old son, Max, announced he was writing a book. My husband and I were supportive and encouraging, but honestly figured he'd write a few pages and be done. How wrong we were! After four months of hard work, Max had written a 12-chapter, 48-page sequel to the Lord of the Rings titled The Return of Sauron. We were so proud of his accomplishment that we decided to "publish" the book and have a book reading and signing.

We invited a small group of people who have been influential in Max's life, including family members, teachers and some close friends. On the day of the event we set up a table with copies of Max's book and his original manuscript. We did our best to rearrange the furniture to seat the audience, although every person invited was in attendance so it ended up being standing room only!

Max read the first two chapters of his book and then had a Q&A session with the audience. After that guests were invited to purchase the book for $1 and have it signed by the author. We then moved the celebration outside where we had a BBQ dinner. It was a fun, fantastic event that honored Max's hard work and hopefully encouraged him to keep putting pen to paper.

Thanks Marin and congratulations Max!
