Q: Our dinner table is flanked by big benches. Our 3-year-old doesn't want to be in her high chair, but has to kneel to be tall enough to eat at the table. Is there a decent booster seat out there that can attach to a bench? I worry about a booster than doesn't attach, since there is no back to the benches and she could fly right off.

Editor: Hmmnnn...I have no idea. I know some boosters do secure to chairs (like the Keekaru for example), but since you'd need to secure it front to back instead of to the sides for a bench, I don't believe these would work. Readers, any ideas for Charlotte?

Nomade Express Slee...
this might sound terribly "ghetto," but what about securing a big phone book or two?
This might be something to DIY. For under $15 you can get a basic molded plastic booster seat that has two straps for securing it to a chair (one that goes around the back, and one that goes underneath). You could use a drill to make four new holes - two on the front and two on the back, and put the straps through those holes instead, so you could secure the booster around the bench front-to-back.
Get a Tripp Trapp for the "head" of the table. They come in a range of colours, look great, and last for years.

I'm bookmarking this post since I thought the SAME thing last night! Though our bench is a banquette so there's a back on it - I might just superglue the seat to it.
We use the INGOLF Junior chair from Ikea

Our kids love them.
I have been using our bumbo for my 2 year daughter to sit at our table. They are terribly tricky to topple and easy to clean.
I would suggest a junior chair from ikea too. Unless you are willing to screw a booster to the bench, I don't think it would be all that safe, especially when they try to climb in/ out of it by themselves, which I am guessing your 3 yr old would want to do
we love our ikea junior chair for our 2 year old. We also have an old first year booster/travel hi chair with the straps re threaded to work on a picnic table.
I'd pick up a Trip Trap used on CL. Or I'd try, they are always available and always sell before you get there. Trip Trap is genius and gives great independence. Plus, looks cool.
A bumbo should only be used on the floor. I've seen terrible accidents twice now at restaurants with bumbos.
