I've seen a lot of beautiful apartments — and I've seen a lot of Paris apartments — but I've never seen anything quite like this. Here's a loft apartment, tucked just under the roof in a house in the 20th arrondissement, that couldn't possibly be any more perfect.
This old mansion, formerly the residence of dancer, singer and actress Josephine Baker, is now the home and studio of architect François Pélegrin. For the loft he shares with his wife on the building's top floors, he chose a simple black-and-white color scheme, letting the drama of the space itself take center stage.
On the loft's second level, a bedroom tucks neatly under the house's dramatically peaked roof. From the bedroom there's a view back downstairs to the living room, where a semicircle of Togo sofas provide a cozy place to chat.
