We were just over at the Living Etc. site, perusing their forums and ran across photos of this open plan flat located in a repurposed warehouse in London. It was posted on the site by the owner, who says she's lived in the space for 3 years before putting it on the market - take a peek at what she's done with the place:
The bright beams and window valance add a real sense of architecture to the open room, turning a structural detail into a design statement.
We like the geometric patterned drapes - it pulls your eye to what is arguably the best thing about the room - the amazing windows.
The bath was a full rehab - the narrow tiles look very current.

I love the tile work in the bathroom.
Wow - Painting those beams the same bright color as the window valences takes an architectural flaw and turns it into a positive feature!
I don't consider the beams to be a flaw at all, however painting them sort of just took all the cool industrial character out of the loft space. I guess it would really depend on what they looked like to begin with.
Anyone know where I can find a bed similar to the one in the first picture?
I've always loved factory windows... All those little panes making up big light boxes... Love it, whenever I see them!

Being a loft dweller myself, I'm with dmstudio on this one. The beams are not a flaw, they are unique and characteristic of loft spaces. They shouldn't have been painted that way. Love the window.
Hi everyone, I am (or was) the lucky owner of this apartment. Glad you all like it! The original beams were boxed like that when it was converted from a warehouse, so we weren't trying to cover them up, the idea of painting them red was actually to draw attention to them as a feature. I guess underneath they were steel beams, but we never investigated.
We moved out about a month ago - these were the photo's the real estate agent took when it went on the market.
