Name: At home daycare (2-5 years)Location: Long Beach, CA
Color Inspiration: I saw a picture of a woodland themed nursery and I thought the green in it seemed so calming. I don't like primary colors on the walls or on furniture really. Because my room was going to be used as the daycare space, I wanted the space to feel calm and inviting. I think the green against neutral furniture does that.
Tip for Using Color: Use color as an accent. And pick two or three coordinating colors and repeat different shades of that color around the room.
Colors Used: green, white, and rainbows colors!
Thanks for your colorful entry Yvonne and good luck!

What a beautiful, orderly, welcoming space!
WOW I love this space!!!! My new inspiration for playroom!
This space is amazing, I'm in love.
This is great. The green really ties everything together. Plus the kitchen area is awesome with that drapped fabric!
This looks so welcoming — you can spy all kinds of interesting things to do, but everything has enough breathing room. Very well considered and executed — I love all the little separate play zones. Lucky kids who get to play here!
The colors and design are wonderful! What kid wouldn't enjoy this space ? It is tranquil too !!!
nice! where did you get the little round mirror underneath the tree?
where did you get that wood stove!?
Yvonne, love your room. Please contact me if you would consider selling the wooden kitchen when your kids are done with it. I am local and won't need it for some time...so it's no rush. Again, big compliments on a great play area!
Fabulous! What a great playroom!
The mirror is from West Elm (it was from another room in the house). And the wood play kitchen and playstand is from palumba.com. Thanks so much for all of your nice comments!!
Wow! If my kids went to daycare, I'd want them to go to one like this.
We have those same playstands, and they are wonderful.
This is a-maz-ing!!! As an educator I have always leaned to the more untraditional side (Reggio Emilia, Montessori, etc.) and as such LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this room. The educational elements are so inviting and beautiful not to mention functional and just perfect! Kudos to being an at home educator with superb taste and talent!
I guess you can't send a PM on here; ycjoseph I would love to see more of this room. We just bought a house and are planning to redo our toddler's room in a similar fashion (and I have been collecting green items for years, hah!) so I'd love to see more if you don't mind. I was also planning to do a tree on one wall, with felt leaves. How did you do the trunk? Love the playsilks as a roof.
Hi Yvonne,
I am the casting coordinator for HGTV's upcoming web series, "ChildStyle with Rebecca Woolf," and I'm very interested in showcasing your at-home daycare space on the show.
The show is about children’s rooms (playrooms, bedrooms, nurseries, teen rooms, girls’ rooms, boys’ rooms, you name it) that are unique and interesting. The purpose is to present ideas to parents looking to spice up a space for their kids.
If interested, please contact me at 818-333-3704 for further details as soon as you can as we’re looking to start shooting in July.
Thank you for your time and consideration!

Love it! We`re are in the last stages of building our home and I`m planning my daycare set up. I was wondering what color your walls were painted and if you had any additional pictures.
