We're always curious to see how a big family sets up their space at home. A recent house tour at Period Living (which we found via Desire to Inspire) featured this shared bedroom with four single beds. Yes, four to a room. We love it!
No doubt this room is big and bright which helps keep it from looking cluttered and overstuffed. But beyond that, the room is laid out nicely and the neat row of identical white beds and bedding, chair and white trashcan at the foot of each bed makes it look orderly. The warm accents keep it from looking like army barracks.
The detail of the trash cans at the end of each bed is particularly nice and counterbalances the rest of the sweet and charming room. We wonder if they're used as hampers or toy storage. To see more beautiful photos of this house, check out Desire to Inspire.

Love the room but it looks big enough to put a wall up and make two rooms. Which is what I would have done.
My grandma's house had a room like this (and yes, it used to be 2 rooms that they made into one. It was a house built in the 20s and it made you walk thru another bedroom to get to the hall and bath.)
My sisters and cousins and I would all bunk in there and it was a blast. I absolutely adore rooms like this.
where are the beds from??
I think it's an important rite of passage to have to share rooms at one point in your childhood. I have such fond memories of sharing a room. I absolutely LOVE how this is done!
There's a lot of charm and organization in this room. If I ever have 4 kids, I'm going to make them bunk together. LOVE IT!
When I saw this over photo, I have to be frank - my first thought was, 'ick on the garbage cans' and my second - 'that room is bigger than my living room'. I love shared rooms, and this one looks like summer camp at grandmas rambling old house. I want to go, too!
I have three kids, and they all wish they were in the same room together. The two oldest have been sharing since the third was born, and even though they are not the same gender they really prefer it. I wish we could fit them all in one! This is a really cute way to do it.
Oh this is gorgeous!!! We have a bunch of kids all sharing and I would love our room to look this stylish... Love it!!!
this room makes me so happy! wonderful
I think this is an adorable room.
I have seen the metal trashcan pop up in a couple of rooms lately and though I love the aesthetic I think they are way too loud.
And four of them? The clattering would drive me nuts. Whether they are meant to be used for clothes, diapers or toys there is always a quieter solution and I don't think any house with small children needs more noise. Am I missing something?
Oh. my. word. I love it.
tullymama, they're from Ikea.
Even though I thought this room was really pretty, my first thought was that it looked like a strangely happy version of an old fashioned orphanage...
It looks great.
We are about to have our 4th child, and much to our surprise:) we still live in a 2 bedroom house. I think it's gonna be fun, despite what some of my friends have said. Thanks for this post.
We have four kiddos in a two bedroom apartment, working well so far. :) But...I really like that huge room....*drool*
Forgot to mention if we stay long enough we'll need two bunk beds.
I have four boys, and currently three of them share a room, with twin beds lined up in a row. Right now, I can hear them above me, the oldest is reading aloud to the others. I hope they have great memories from sharing a room. I can't wait to add the fourth bed, when the baby is a little older. This room is so adorable and definitely gives me some inspiration!
Anyone have any ideas where to find white trashcans like that? I want to use one for a hamper.
The room is cute, but who has a room that size to use as a bedroom?
I agree with the pp, the beds are Ikea Minnen beds (you can find them in the toddler/children's section online, they can be toddler sized or extended to twin sized beds).
