A Children's Center in Thailand

Ecologically-Minded Architecture

As part of their ecologically-minded resort, Six Senses Resort in Thailand commissioned 24H-Architecture to build a bamboo structure in the shape of a manta-ray for their children's center.

The structure boasts an auditorium, a library, an art room, a music room, as well as a slide. Children are immersed in local culture through lectures, books, films, and music, and can also pick vegetables and cook their meals with a chef.

This structure makes me think of the Green School in Bali, where architecture meets low carbon footprint as part of an education program. When I read about projects like these incorporating local resources to build the environment where our children learn all day, it feels logical, and I fantasize that all our schools would be built in such a mindful way. Do you?
