We've admired the work of the Little Flower School before, and it was an exciting occasion to be able to take one of their classes this past Sunday at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. My sister and I brought our mom as a Mother's Day present, and we each got to make our own floral arrangement. Elisa's is above.

The full-day class started out with a guided tour of the gardens, given by an extremely knowledgeable staff gardener. Then back in the classroom, Nicolette and Sarah taught us about the dozens of floral varieties they had brought for our use, some of which we had just seen growing on our excursion. This stunning wall of flowers is pictured above. We then learned about the three tiers of flowers that go into an arrangement and other technical considerations, and finally got the chance to make our own designs.
Everyone had a wonderful time, learned a ton, and got to bring home their lovely creations. To sign up for a class yourself, visit the Little Flower School for more information.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Am I reading this correctly, that full-day (=5,5 h) class costs 300 dollars?
I am completely flabbergasted.
It says $250 for a 3hr workshop. Yikes. I hope you get to keep the flowers!
I took a class on flower-arranging so I could make the arrangements for a friend's wedding, and it was $50 for three sessions.
However, you had to provide your own materials. I had an "in" at a flower shop, and was able to get a lot of stuff at cost, but it probably would have been at least $300 retail.
