Even though we're painting our current kitchen walls black, our last kitchen (which we loved) had turquoise walls. The turquoise made the white furniture and trim pop making the space feel crisp and clean. We feel the same way about Viviana's kitchen--great color combos of green, white and yellow that create an inspiring room.
Modern and sleek white cabinets with silver cabinet pulls help tie in the chrome appliances in the bright kitchen space. We also like the addition of the glass dinette table and lucite chairs which makes the space feel airy and light. A mid century modern pendant light and retro starburst clock call out to an earlier era with the vintage yellow canisters finishing off the look.

Come on, Captain Original....are "we" still taking issue with the use of the word "we" on Apartment Therapy? I would rather look at the word "we" a million times than hear "My significant other and I..." over and over. Too wordy. I don't think it's unclear who they're referring to.
Onto the ACTUAL topic of this post...I love the color of the walls. Mine are a really deep teal right now (Peacock Tail by Behr) but I *almost* like this lighter color more!
LOVE it
I love the color!
And, I also agree with pattymonster that it's very clear who the editor was referring to.
Your dining set is rekindling my desire for the Ikea Tobias chairs. Are they comfortable?
I love the turquoise and am a huge fan of bright colors in the kitchen! However, I am more interested in seeing your black walls once they are done. When I moved into my house the kitchen was navy almost black. And god awful. It was pretty much the most depressing thing I had ever seen and I couldn't repaint the walls fast enough to get rid of it. While I think sleek and modern kitchens are fun to look at, they just seem to lack the liveliness of what makes a kitchen so special. If the kitchen is the heart of the home, I'd pick cheery over black any day.
LOOOOVE the color.
The "we" drives me nuts but I guess I understand why they do it...just pisses me off though. My own problem.
heather77, I have the Tobias chairs (and the same dining table, too) and I think the chairs are comfortable. They're just curved enough that the hard surface isn't an issue.
This is an adorable kitchen. Two questions: what is on the backsplash behind the mushroom canisters? And are those sliding panels on the window from Ikea?
those cabinets look great! and I am also swooning over the Tobias chairs...they don't sell them anymore, do they?

I am confused my these photos. The first shows tiles and mushroom canisters between the sink and the clock. The last shows bare walls and a plant- is it before and after?
The green kitchen totally pulled me in and was surprised to see turquoise. In fact, when I looked up, it matched my dining room! What color did you use???
That color is so bright and happy!
what's the name of this color? it's amazing!
omg, i have been looking EVERYWHERE for a teal and white kitchen to use as inspiration. i want to paint our kitchen that color.
I just want the mushroom canisters. love.
Hi all, thanks for the comments.
As happened with the whole apartment, me and my husband are redoing everything by ourselves and there is still a lot to do. You can see all the progress here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shelikescherries/sets/72157606494288161/
The pics featured here were taken on different moments, and that's why in one you have a backsplash, and in other you see bare walls. We are also not finished, so things might change a bit in the future.
Mostly everything you see is from Ikea: dining room table and chairs (yes, they are the Tobias ones and they are comfortable -- my only complaint is that they scratch easily, which is not something good when you have 2 cats); the cabinets, the countertop, the light fixture and the window panels. The backsplash is made of tiny glass tiles. Mushroom canisters were find on Etsy, and clock is from eBay.
A lot of people had asked me about the colors, I need to check on those and I'll publish them on my Flickr page.
Thanks again!
Very clean and tidy even if you haven't hidden the washing up products. Good job!
