This little chapel in Stamford, New York has been converted into a residence. We love the way the cathedral ceilings of the original chapel have been retained, with the living spaces fitting inside in loft-like style:
The reason we get to peek inside such a charming and unique home? It's for sale! For $168,000 it's yours. That's a steal for a 1400 square foot pad compared to Manhattan prices, but this one comes complete with a two-and-a-half-hour commute.
Check out the full listing here and see it featured in the New York Times, too.

That is amazing!
Looks great. But it's actually overpriced considering it's about 3hrs from the city (when you can get bigger places for cheaper only 2hrs away) and 1bdrm. Everything looks like a bargain compared to NY prices.
So cute. I wish the listing had better images and more of the kitchen.
I'm in love!
I live part time in Woodstock/NYC and I think it is appropriately priced. It is true you can find something bigger for the same price about 2 hours out- but they aren't as nice, have no views, and are in areas that are just as inconvenient. There is another renovated church right now in Woodstock that is for sale for much much more money. I toured it and though it is nicer and in a far better area- it pretty much has no usable bedroom, just small seperate spaces.

By the way this started out in the 800K's...
look where it is now.
I love it! I just wish, like anmar, that there were more pictures of the kitchen and some of the attic.
That tub? I want to be in that. Loooove.
Fabulous space and setting. I could definitely live here.
tub-love.
Just perfect.
