This clever coffee table by Belgian designer Raphael Charles is the mysterious shape shifter of the furniture world: a modular table that joins together not by stacking or connecting, but by the force of a magnetic field.
The Multiple Table consists of a cluster of locally sourced, solid beech, 15-inch poles that can be arranged (and rearranged) to the user's liking in any shape or form.
The poles are held together by magnets and allow for endless configuration. Turn that large coffee table into a series of side tables for a party, or reassemble them to create one long bench for the entryway. Make yourself some functional furniture, or play with the artsy aspect and show off your monogram!

Howard Butcher Bloc...
I love innovative furniture designs like this!
It looks pretty cool. Just don't sit your laptop on it...
that's awesome. but also - a coffee table that you can't put your phone or laptop down on? definitely wouldn't work for me.
And no DVDs or CDs.
Whose idea was this, again...?
My mother would be in trouble - it might turn her ICD (similar to a pacemaker) off. Opps! As well as what others have mentioned.
In concept though, cool idea.
Magnets won't damage DVDs and CDs.
It's still a clever idea ;)
Innovative idea. 'Idea' being the key word. Imagine explaining to a guest who spent the night on your sofa why his electronics suddenly have issues.
I really like this, but I am a clumsy person. If I spilled my Dr. Pepper on that table (like I regularly do on my flat rectangular coffee table), it would take forever to clean. Maybe if there was a glass top on top of the polls...
