Capiz shell chandeliers are so light and delicate and look just lovely, especially in a serene room like the bedroom. This bedroom chandelier, though, achieves the same look but is made of something unexpected:
Plastic placemats were used to DIY this bedside chandelier! Conveniently enough, the translucents placemats came with a grid on them, making them an easy repurpose for this DIY by See Cate Create. Head on over there to see process pics and the full project description.
Nice job, Cate!

I SO love this! I love the look of those chandeliers, but have a hard time justifying my oceanic conservation side (thank you, working for an aquarium). This is such a great alternative!
I checked out Cate's site and found that she made a light fixture out of posterboard. Looks great! It looks far more expensive than the placemat chandelier. http://seecatecreate.wordpress.com/2011/04/23/fabulous-diy-light-fixture-tutorial/
Awe, I was wanting to make one of these, but the web page doesn't exist. Can anyone redirect me?
