While this little shaded area would be fabulous at a lakeside or beachfront home, I'd settle for a warm afternoon next to my apartment building. It's not only the idea of sitting outside on this day bed that's incredibly relaxing, but also the hues of the pillows and spray painted pallets mimicking water and sunshine.
This little retreat is relatively easy to put together. With some shipping pallets, a foam slab, some sturdy branches and a sheet, you have the perfect shaded spot for some afternoon reading.
And if muted colors aren't your style, the color ante could easily be raised with brightly patterned pillows, a colorful awning and a highly pigmented shade for the daybed's pallets.
Now, if someone could do something about these unseasonably cool temperatures, we would be well on our way to enjoying some outdoor time.

That looks sooooooooooo inviting!
so pretty but so unrealistic. white outside?
the funny thing about white outside is that the sun tends to bleach everything over time. even chocolate ice cream that my two year old got all over our white outdoor cushions.
Yes and the awning will serve as a great water catchment/storage system....until it doesn't.
It's romantic and whimsical and I can see using it once or twice during a high pressure system between rain storms. I think it's great just for effect but not sure I'd keep it there for very long. Still, the colors and all that white make it VERY inviting. What I'd rather do with the space is create an outdoor shower. Even sexier.
I love this... it is so romantic and sweet! The subdued colors are tranquil!!
