Last year we flipped for the dollhouse that Megan decorated for her girls, and this playhouse reflects that same great taste and style: supersized.

When Megan bought the playhouse three years ago she painted the exterior and furnished it with a toy oven, bench, sink, shelf and blackboard. Recently she decided that it was time for an interior makeover, and started by painting the walls white and the floor gray. Then she skirted the bench with a meter of Orla Kiely's multi stem fabric, which provided a color scheme for thoughtful homemade and vintage additions. The result is beautiful.
Thanks, Megan!

This is really darling and I hate to be a stick in the mud, but why is it that almost every play house for a little girl has a kitchen? Aren't we sterotyping in this day and age? Or is it that the little one wants to imulate Mom? I don't know--I would have turned this into an art studio and play room for my little one...but like I said, it's darling and job well done.
Do her girls & their friends always keep it that neat & tidy? What a lovely, lovely play space! Great colors & use of real items to play with.
Wow! That's gorgeous! I am planning to turn our playroom into a "little house" for my little girl with a kitchen, laundry, etc. (And I imagine my son will play with it just as much as my daughter.) So this was very inspiring!
@Lyonstill
For me it doesn't matter if a girl has all the play kitchen and play cleaning stuff if she (and any brothers she might have) sees both mom and dad (if there is a mom and dad) doing chores and cooking. Kids love to emulate and so long as they know that cooking isn't a 'girl thing' because their dad cooks too, a play kitchen to me just starts to foster independence and eventual ability to actually cook.
Good Point KESS...thanks!
Agree with @LyonStill, as long as ma and pa both cook (in our house we do) and then it does not matter, I would encourage cooking in anyone. I have B/G twins and they play equally at the play kitchen. This playhouse is so lovely well done!
This is beyond cute. The fact that there's Orla Kiely fabric drapes send it over the top. I know my boys play kitchen all the time and I know they'd love it too.
In our house, Daddy cooks. I'd have to give her a pretend microwave and some fake frozen dinners if she wanted to imitate mommy lol
Boy, wonderful. Any kid would love this! Both my grandsons enjoy kitchen and cooking play and would like this as much as any little girl. (BTW, both my sons are way better cooks than I ever dreamed of being!)
I'd rather provide this to my kids than plop them in front of a couch for hours with a gaming console xD (although video games in small doses is not bad, granted content is monitored by the parents!).
Love it!
Cooking is awesome and food is one of the best parts of life - a play kitchen for children should encourage the appreciation of good food and make cooking seem as fun as it is, not be seen as some kind of symbol of downtrodden women. (When I have kids they're getting a play kitchen whether they're boys or girls just because I think it would be a fun project.)
I want one for myself! :) This is awesome! Play ktichens were my favorite to play with as a little kid and I agree with the above comments and that there is nothing negative with girls playing kitchen. Boys play kitchen too, as my son loves his big sister's pink kitchen!
Probably has a play kitchen because it's a playHOUSE. A kitchen is an integral part of a house, after all. I think most boys would love to play in there too, unless they've been brought up to think they should only do "boy" things. Point is, make it fun. They're going to gravitate toward what they truly enjoy if we don't make a big fuss about it.
And it's beautiful, by the way. I am shopping for (or possibly working myself up to building) a playhouse myself. I hope I can make ours feel as cozy as this one.
This is adorable. Like others have mentioned, girls AND boys love kitchen play- mine certainly do. Does anyone know where the stacking doll garland is from?
I don't mind the kitchen bit for girls. To me cooking is a great pastime. However, for my little girl I draw the line at toy vacuum cleaners! Come on Fisher Price!
So. Precious!
But have you seen the toy Dysons?! I have to admit, they are cute and probably the closest I am ever getting to the real thing.
My daughter loves her toy vacuum cleaner and play kitchen and for the record my husband does the cooking AND vacuuming in our house. The toy vacuum is the only way we can keep her from trying to play with the real vacuum 24/7. And if we had a son I would hope he would love them just as much. What's wrong with getting kids excited about the important everyday tasks that they will have to fulfill as they get older?
In our house we keep a carpet sweeper, with one of the links removed from its handle, for the use of the children. My son loves it the most--his favorite chore is to carpet sweep the area rug in the living room.
Our playhouse has a play kitchen and a play washing machine. It also has an art desk, a chalkboard, and a floor-to-ceiling map. Even spies have to make coffee sometimes--just ask my kids.
Why don't I have this when I was a kid? :(
My inner child wants this! And my exterior adult might do something similar for my two boys.
My exterior adult wants to do something similar to my own kitchen!! lol
Awesome little house. Can my son come over to play? BTW, my son loves his play kitchen because it is like Dada's kitchen. The fact that he calls it Dada's kitchen made me realize it's time I start doing some of the cooking too! Otherwise he'll think it's just a guy thing and women don't cook.
