Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Hello! We live in Amsterdam in the recently reclaimed and newly built area called IJburg. On a lake called the IJmeer they built six man-made islands that will eventually house 45,000 people.
We live on the island called the Steigereiland where 'normal' people were offered the opportunity to build their own house. Restrictions where given as to the height and size of the house. But it resulted in an architecturally interesting area with no house being the same. My husband is a builder and built and designed our whole house himself. I would love it to be featured on Apartment Therapy as we are very proud of the result.

Thanks for sharing this. I love that the houses, while all new, are all different. I'd like to see more of the house (yes to kitchen ... and bath, too) as well as some street scenes. Is the floor concrete?
