This modern vacation home by Alexandra Angle Interior Design on Fire Island was completely whitewashed inside and then filled back up with careful applications of strategic bright color.

No color is off-limits and there is no such thing as clashing here. The rooms are treated like gallery spaces and when it is absolutely necessary for something to interrupt the pristine white landscape, you'd better believe it's going to make a functional statement. Especially cool are the patterns chosen as floor decor, whether painted directly onto concrete or unfurled in rugs, each graphic incorporates the white while anchoring and defining their respective areas.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Where can I purchase that colorful swing ?
Hey Annie. Great place - so simple but utterly cool. I love open cabinets and shelving in kitchens. Those Yellow stripes on the floor are lovely! I posted about black and white stripes yesterday - love them in kitchens http://martinelouisedesign.blogspot.com/2011/06/black-and-white-stripes.html
The colour inside the cabinets is a great idea. Would look great with my white dishes. Hmmmmm.
@bellabeeboo - If you have $8500 to drop, you can pick one up through the Italian furniture company Moroso. It's by Patricia Urquiola, from her 2008 line called Tropicalia.
... and suddenly the anthropologie hanging swing looks like a bargain!
What a great and relatively simple renovation idea.
love the red in the kitchen cabinet!
White > gallery > artsy types.
Rainbows + bright colors > rainbows.
Really, given the location, I can't decide if this is amusingly tongue-in-cheek or shamefully stereotypical.
