It doesn't fit into our holiday decor budget, but rather than be bah humbug over a crazy pricetag ($4,320!) we thought this was a fitting gingerbread house to share with the modernist-loving AT crowd - Mies' Farnsworth house done up in fondant, poured sugar and sugar paste. This sweet rendition of the famous Illinois landmark...
...took 25 hours to make (by April Reed Cake Design) and 15% of the proceeds go to the restoration effort following the recent flood damage.
Check it out at The New York Times.

For $4320, I would expect the tree would look a lot less like poo.
lol.
That is about the most drab, un-attractive, non-festive "gingerbread house" I've ever seen.
Not every new idea is a good one. I love the real house, and I love some of the "MCM" gingerbread houses, but this one just doesn't translate.
WHAT?
Jesus, it's amazing what some people will spend money on while people are starving and homeless.
Here in Toronto, the Ontario College of Art & Design just held a gingerbread house contest where one team furnished their "glass house" with a gingerbread sofa, table and chairs, TV, etc. Another team riffed on Gaudi's Sagrada Familia: http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2008/12/gingerbread-college/
Indiasoup: Blaspheming is offensive. No need to bring the Lord's name into the equation.
Agree that the execution of the model is not so successful- reminded me of one of my first year modelling attempts in Triplex. I'd rather just donate the 15% of the proceeds and go without the cake!
