I'm not usually one to blog about knitting projects—after all, there are so many great ones out there—but if there's one exception, this is it! Appearing in January's issue of Martha Stewart Living, this hand-knit blanket is easy for beginners and experienced knitters alike. If you can knit a scarf, you can make this exceptionally beautiful blanket to spruce up your bed in the new year.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Also, if you have $730.55 to spend on yarn (pre-tax), you can knit this simple blanket. Cozy indeed.
@bettyrocker... I was thinking the same thing. The kind of yarn I would want for a nice cozy blanket is expensive! I am all for handmade, but I fear I am too frugal for this one.
Yarn prices aside, this looks like one of the most boring knitting projects of all time.
LOL, I agree with all the comments above! If you are going to put the time and effort into this one, you probably want to go with good materials...I can see this becoming an expensive project!
Also, it does seem a little boring (although if I saw this at a reasonable price at a department store, I would probably purchase it. It's low-key and goes with everything ;-)...however, one could always make it more interesting with different colors/widths of the sections. Personalize it, make it your own!! maybe get really crafty and add some crochet flowers...or imagine a smaller version of this blanket with crochet ladybugs and butterflies attached!! What an adorable baby shower present that would make... :-D
When did hyphenating everything become a thing? You cozy up to something, you pick up the car, you make out with a girl. You can have a cozy-up session, a car pick-up time, and a make-out room in your house, when those terms are joined to create a modifier. Other-wise, they are just two words that are next-to one-another. Thank-you.
I saw this in the Martha Stewart magazine and just started this project. I love the bright yellow with the grey. I picked out my own yarn as her suggestions would be too expensive and am making it a throw size instead of a full bed covering. It is perfect practice for getting back into knitting. Love it.
