I have a serious thing for beds with built in storage (hello totally usable space!), but far too often they feel extra tall or boxy. I ran across this fabulous handmade design from Jeremy Levine on Flickr that not only combats the squareness issues, but the height as well. I can't lie, I want one... bad!
This bed was a collaboration between Jeremy Levine Design and Workshop Neirman-Smith. The design of the bed resembles that of a boat where storage is kept below with people on top.
I love the slant to each drawer instead of dropping straight to the floor. Not only does it give you extra room for your feet when crawling into bed, it doesn't make the piece feel heavy or weighed down the way many concealed storage beds do.
Underbed boxes and storage ideas always feel cumbersome, but this design would solve everyone's problem and look like a total super star while doing it. I have my fingers crossed to see it in production soon, because otherwise I'll need to brush up on my New Yankee Workshop to have any chance of pulling this off on my own!
