Sometimes obstacles are put in our way for a reason. First Melanie couldn't find a dollhouse she liked well enough to buy. Then she couldn't find a suitable piece of furniture to repurpose into a dollhouse. In the end she and her husband built one instead and we think it's just right.

The dollhouse is a gift for their daughter Edith on the occasion of her second birthday and it couldn't be lovelier. Furnishing the house is a work in progress and Melanie is looking forward to having this project as an ongoing creative outlet for her and Edith.

You can see more detailed photos and read a bit about how it was made on the blog Beehive Craft Collective, which Melanie contributes to. If you're feeling her vibe, also visit her at Homemade Crackers ("our journey to make more at home, find local ingredients and become supermarket-free).
