A Happy Compromise of Dinosaurs & Baseball

My Room

Name: Boy (3)
Location: Union, Kentucky

When we moved my youngest son out of his crib and into his own bed last year, I wanted to re-decorate his room to be a fun, inspiring place for him to hang out in that reflected him and his fun personality. His two requests for his room were that they included his two favorite things; dinosaurs and baseball. The Cincinnati Reds to be exact.

Now, I'm not a big fan of the themed room, so I put on my thinking cap and set forth to create a space that gave him the feeling that he wanted with the look that I wanted, without breaking the bank!

We headed to IKEA to pick out a few key pieces of furniture, including a low to the ground Malm bed, and the iconic child size Poang chair that I revamped to give it a little more of a custom look. The PS red locker cabinet was the perfect fit to give the room that baseball feel and also inspired the use of red on the ceiling.

A gallery wall complete with DIY faux-dino taxidermy and a vintage Chanel letter gives a whimsical feel to the room and offers the chance to switch out the art as his tastes change. An oversized chalkboard installed above the bed posed as a great solution for a big art installation without the fear of heavy frames that could fall off the wall and injure him.

The result is a super fun room that will grow with him from the toddler he is now all the way into his boyhood!
