Specialty: Handmade Ceramics
Price Range: ($$) Mid-Range
A household name for most people, Heath Ceramics is a long-standing American company that has embraced and sustained the handmade culture since the 1950's. While their line of well-crafted products speak for themselves, their model of business (built entirely on local manufacturing) is equally as impressive in this age of "cheap and easy".
For 55 years, Heath Ceramics has been making mid-century American pottery in the original factory located in Sausalito, California. The products are not inexpensive when compared to mass-produced options, but they do reflect the real cost of producing quality items in a responsible manner. Well-made and of timeless design, I like the idea of slowly collecting the pieces and then passing them on to future generations.
