When we moved into our current home, we were met with a baby blue beadboard and nautical wallpapered spare room. It was outdated, not done well, and definitely not our style! So we decided to take matters into our own hands.
After ripping down the beadboard we discovered a mish-mash of four different wallpapers, paint splatters, glue marks, and several portions of the drywall carved out and then hastily covered with scraps of plywood held in place with painter's tape. What a nightmare! It was completely unsalvageable so we had to start completely over.
After replacing the drywall, repainting in a lovely neutral color (Behr's Flannel Gray) we now have a black and white dream space to hangout and work in!
A lot of DIY projects were involved in the making of this room, from art, to furniture updates and shelves, we put a lot of sweat and effort into making this room a reflection of our Scandinavian/modern/fun style. This space is now a welcoming room to curl up with a good book and a cat or two or to get down to work on some computer work.
With a little bit of elbow grease, DIY skills and some time and patience, it's absolutely possible to completely transform a room on a budget into the space of your dreams!
