Rocking horses are a classic, and always will be. But times change, and not many kids today can relate to riding a horse. It might be time to bring the rocking toy into the current century. Make way for the scooter.
We'll take one in lime green, thank you. Brooke at Killer B Designs designed and built this very cool rocking scooter from the ground up. Using just a jigsaw and a drill she recreated one she saw in a catalog for a fraction of the price. Just like real scooters, this baby is efficient, consisting of only one eight-foot 1x10 and a wooden dowel for the handlebars.

Brooke created a tutorial which she posted at Ana White, a fitting home for such a clever project. The only question we have is what she will use to craft a wee little helmet?

^ Umm, I don't think the baby is supposed to 'get around' in it, it's like a rocking horse - it rocks on the spot! LOL
I think it's so cute that she whipped this up by hand.
And that baby - awww *pinches cheeks*.
It's 90% of the way there. Use a sander to round off the edges and use a high gloss spray paint on top of primer and you're really in business! Maybe a shiny coffee can bottom for the light? She already did the hard part (jigsaw) and it looks great -- take it all the way!
This is perfect for my new grandkid! I'm going to be a copycat, maybe the beat up old rocking horse out in the garage could be redone into this new configuration. SInce the due date is in January I might actually get it done by the time the kid is ready to use it.
Soooo proud of Brooke! Her building skills and ambition are off the chart! Great selection to feature AT!
I don't know too many toddlers that "can relate to riding" Vespas, myself. Just saying. But what a creative project. Fantastic job, Brooke!
