A few months ago Ruthie wrote in with a conundrum: whether to paint over a handpainted mural before showing the house to prospective buyers. Readers' opinions were split, but Robin just wrote in (inspired by our gallery of map decor) to show us a handpainted map mural that came with her home - she loves it and so do we.

We can only imagine how many hours were put into this mural and Robin's son Sam has been this room's lucky inhabitant. It's true that some new homebuyers would likely not have kept it, but now as Robin's family prepares to move homes again she says it is one of the things she will miss the most.

Thanks Robin - a terrific example of maps making a statement in kids' rooms and also another vote for keeping a beautiful mural in case the next homeowner loves it!

(A fun post script: Before they had kids this room was Robin's husband's office. She tells us, "We called it the Situation Room where my husband jokingly "tracked" global conflict while using it as an office for law school." Ha!)
