My darling, dear sweet neighbor upstairs stopped me on the street a few weeks ago and asked if I could paint her a pink leopard ceiling like the one in her fingernail salon. File this under “Retro 80s.”
My neighbor likes all things girly-girl — think hot pink, animal prints and pictures of Betty Page. We were originally going to put this in the kitchen, but it makes much more sense in the bathroom where it transforms a plain white box into the kind of private temple of solitude devoted to the transformational act of applying one’s make-up. I imagine one enters such a room as an executive assistant, and exits a diva.
I finally gave myself permission to go ahead when I found this other photo in a publication from the 80s. If you can believe this, the first sample board I did was too pink — bubble gum on bubble gum on bubble gum — and was way too cloying. I know these pictures are dark, but in the final color scheme, we have a soft pink, a cranberry and a marshmallow peanut, by which I mean this: one color has a red base, one has a blue base, one has a yellow base. Elegant, right?
So go ahead, pamper yourself with a little leopard. For the girly-girl within you.

White Enamel Four-P...
It's a design-style straight from Betty Page.
Paul
I think that makes a strong case for "just because a customer wants a certain thing, doesn't mean it's a good idea". Just sayin'
i think perhaps if it looked more like leopard print it could somehow in some way work, but in this instance it reminds me more of smooshed flowers
No that's pretty much what leopard print looks like...I work for a lingerie brand and we're always rotating it in one form or another. I think it can be classy and fierce. I like! Mark you're always so inspirational and willing to explore, I say bravo.
no likey
Wow! That's totally cool. MEOW!
I think that's pretty cool!
My 8 year old daughter is drooling on my laptop! Thanks!
EEK!
My lord that is ugly. Hilarious, mtlyorel! Totally agree, sealbeachy.
Love it!
As one born in the 80's and dressed up as Bettie Page last Halloween I think this is absolutely AWESOME! I believe more can be done to the space, maybe darker walls. As is, it's great. Love the vanity light too.
This is my ceiling and I totally love it!!!!!!! I hope mtlyorel get's herpes (on his/her ceiling too).
the ceiling is fabulous!!!!! Sealbeachy is the wrong this is coolest thing i have ever seen... i think the customer should be rewarded for picking this design!!! all people who disagree are dumb
i think that makes a strong case for "just because u can comment doesnt mean u should"
MY PINK CEILING IS AWESOME is way out Of line I totally agree with sealbeachy
By the way leopard is way out of style zebra is "in" style.
Just to say I have my own painting service "paint boys" service is great, quality alot better than what you are seeing in this picture
"Paint boys" seems juvenile. This ceiling is great and very easy to live in. It is feminine and sexy
Our work is far from juvenile.
Just to say if zebra stripes are in style so are leg warmers!! ur just jealous because the painter did a better job the "paint boys" could ever do.
I wish leg warmers would come back.....
How old are you anyway. There is no reason to get angry over my business being more successful than what ever this one is.
By the way I love your grammar!
by the way ur business sounds like its being run by preschoolers
just kidding it is probably a very good business that does great work and has quality service
Why thank you if you ever need a good painting job just call me at 1-800- Tony is gullible hahahahahahaha it's Alex

What a relaxing environment to take care of personal business. Maybe you can find leopard print toilet tissue!!
How about a pink leopard print toilet tissue tube instead, @BrattySis?
Oops! Here's the link to the ink leopard print toilet tissue tube: http://etsy.me/hl7agy
This is a great pattern. I just did a kid's room, safari inspired and put a zebra pattern on the wall. http://imuriproject.prosite.com/5732/108723/gallery/beautiful-africa
