As Thanksgiving weekend gets underway, many will be turning their attention toward Christmas decorating in their homes. Some go all out on the exterior, others have a room dedicated to the holiday. We love the approach used in this cottage: a smattering of subtle little touches of Christmas here and there, in every room of the house:
Can you find the Christmas in each of the rooms above? Sometimes it's just a small handmade wreath, or candles burning near a warm mug of cocoa. We love that none of it is in-your-face, but it all works together to infuse the home with the warmth of the holidays. Some of the small holiday touches used here are great for small spaces where you don't want to overwhelm your home with seasonal clutter.
Do you, too, spread the holiday decor throughout your home? What small ways do you decorate spaces like the bathroom? It might be just a candle or a special hand soap. The kitchen? Maybe a bay leaf wreath. Let's hear your ideas in the comments below.

well what's not to love about that?
Cottage's are so cozy, who wouldn't want to spend Christmas there.
I like to have in the kitchen my special mug, my cinnamon suggar and also StarBucks Christmas caramel coffee blend. So I can have not only the look but the Holiday taste and smell as well!
Love the cottage sooooooo much!
So very inviting I love it.
At least I am not the only one who likes to at least do a tiny bit of Christmas decorating in every room. I seriously actually have a fake tree for every room - some are only a couple inches tall to the biggest being a little over three feet.
It's sooo true Bia - the scents are everything at Christmas too. Crabtree and Evelyn's "noel" scented oil and some Handel's messiah in the background would complement this gorgeous cottage marvelously!
The (small) living room is the Big Event: 6' tree, mantle, window ledges, side table. Breakfast table has a special tablecloth, flowers and treats. Kitchen has a bouquet of white silk poinsettas. Dining room table has another holiday tablecloth and a 10 inch tree decorated with tiny birds, with a silk holly arrangement on the "sideboard". Foyer has a 3' tree.
After that, only a 6 inch tree in the lav and some silk holly in a basket in the bathroom next to the home theater. (And the front porch.)
I don't decorate bedrooms, home office, laundry area, and so far not the theater or the family room outside it. Just the areas where we spend more of our waking time and where guests socialize. (In the theater we are focused on the movie, and decoration would reflect light and distract...)
I like having the white unscented candles everywhere tucked safely in clear glass vases, all kinds of white flowers in small touches in most rooms and then boil a pot of Harney Teas Holiday Blend just to scent up the entire house naturally without using all those yucky artificial smelling candles.
With only three rooms and a bath, it's easy to decorate every room. Daughter's bedroom is delightfully tacky, with strings of colored lights and silver tinsel. Kitchen is mainly gingerbread-themed, although our Advent wreath and menorah are there, too. The living room holds the tree, creche and other some other treasures. However, I still haven't found quite what I want for the bath.
