Name: Daisy (2.5)
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Division: Single Room
Room Size: 72 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: Create little nooks! When I was putting the room together the spot right underneath the shadow box by her bed seemed so awkward to me, but for Daisy, it's the perfect place to take a blanket and a book; it's her go-to spot!
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: The Ikea bookshelf. I was not going to go out and buy another shelving unit if I could find one around the house, but once I got it in her room it took up so much space. I can't tell you how many times I turned that thing around and shoved it across the carpet! It was important for me to have it on it's side too because I wanted Daisy to be able to have access to all the shelves. In the end I just gave up and put it where it seemed the best (which, of course, was where it first started). And like I mentioned before, the awkward space between the bookshelf and the bed that I was so concerned about became Daisy's favorite place in her room.
Favorite Thing About This Room: The colors! I know that it's probably cliche to paint your daughters room pink, but I felt that it would be a great canvas to build from. It has taken me about two years to put this room together but I wanted to show Daisy's personality so I needed the time. The walls may be soft, but the character of the room is bold, just like my little Daisy!
Thanks for your entry Amy and good luck!

White Enamel Flatwa...
What a delightful little girl's room!
Finally a small room that I can see a child would totally love and grow with! Huge applause! Also, could you please tell us the source of that amazing elephant and the giant ice cream cone? Because I suddenly think I can't live without either of those things in my life.....
LOVE this!!!! Seriously adorable.
Her room looks huge for only being 72 square feet, great job in accomplishing that!
super sweet room and so cool..........
how could you not fall in love?
Is that a twin bed or something smaller? I love it!
Great job. I have to agree with RPK123 - her room looks huge. BTW, what Ikea bookcase is this?
I am very curious about that dollhouse!
Wow, I can't believe that's only 72 square feet!
Super cute room, but I can't see how this is possibly 72 feet?
I saw a giant ice cream cone that looked like this one here:

not sure if it is the same one.
Absolutely love this room!
beautiful!
by the way, i don't think this is a cliche, girly pink. this pink would look great anywhere in the house. great job!
I love that big shelf. Where did you find that?
Thanks guys for all your lovely comments!
This room actually is very small, but being a professional photographer I have those great wide angle lenses!
The bed I bought at a garage sale for $20. We took it home, stripped and refinished it and then went to buy a mattress, only to find out it once was a crib from Europe around the turn of the century! Thank goodness it was only $20 because buying a custom mattress for it was ridiculous!
The ice cream lamp my husband built after we saw the same one that someone posted above. We thought we could do it cheaper, and so we found a large ice cream cone piggy bank for $5 and went from there!
The elephant we bought at HomeGoods and the dollhouse we got from The Land of Nod
Thanks for voting!!

Oh my Gosh, I love it! How can you not have sweet dreams with an ice cream cone as a lamp! I must confess though being sent to this room in time out would be a treat! Thanks for sharing.
Oh! And the Ikea bookshelf I don't know the name of, but I went to try and find it on their website and couldn't find it anywhere! Maybe they stopped making it?
The bookshelf is the Expedit Shelving Unit. (Correct me if I'm wrong). Oh no! I think they stopped making it! I can't find it on the IKEA website any longer and I was planning on purchasing one for my girls' room and placing it on its side as well.
The last time I went INTO IKEA (maybe 6 months ago?) they still had that bookshelf by the Expedit shelves. But it may have been on clearance, I can't remember (a bunch of things oddly were...which never happens at IKEA!). But I would still say check the stores even if it's not on the site.
I just adore this room! So precious!
Beautiful room.
I love the elephant bench so much ;)
and the low height of the bookcase is so wonderful for a child to access the things they want. And you're girl is lucky to have a beautiful low window to look out from...
ps. I'm over from Gabriella's Artful Dreamland - you're getting my vote ;)
This is a wonderful display of past meets present. I find myself drawn into the photos of this room to find treasures from the past (the iron bed, ice cream cone bank turned lamp vintage framed art) then I'm surprised to see modern pieces I spotted at Hobby Lobby (doll house bases) and shelf from Ikea. It looks like you've embrace it all to prove small can be cool, what a lucky little Daisy!
This room is amazing! Feels very warm and inviting... Subtle elegance! lol ;) Great job Amy!!!!
this is sweet i could have some sweet dreams there looks like it works well for a two year old too keep up the great work two thumbs up here :)
Your elephant bench caught my eye, and would love to know if you made it, or bought it, doesn't look like something mass produced, but we would love our own!! I might just be motivated to do something like that for my Elle.
What an eye for design!!!! Love it. Any little girl would delight in having this for her room.
i want the ice cream cone. Lovely room.
I love this room! Where did you get the quilt and the printed chair by the closet?
This is my favorite room, I think. I thought the pictures on the immediate wall that the viewer sees were hung a bit too low or something, or maybe you needed another picture there to balance out the great, big picture that leans on the bookcase. I am not sure if you rent, but I would get rid of the dark wood trim around the closet. TO me it felt a bit 70s-ish ina bad way. THis was the only stuff that I saw as flawed. I ADORE that bed and feel like I ned that dollhouse for myself. Great room; unlike many of the other entries, it looks authentic. I get the sense that your daughter really does sleep, play, and live in this room.
flippin cute!!!!
