A renovation of any size is an exhilaratingly terrifying experience but it's hard to resist the urge. The process is filled with doubt, excitement and an overall sense of uncertainty as you try to transform a bag of bare bones into a beautiful masterpiece…
Jamie Theakston took on the project without fully knowing what he was getting himself and his family into — but isn't that typically the case? He had no idea that he was going to need support beams and had really only thought about new floor choices.
While Jamie found himself unsure and slightly scared at times, he pushed through, stayed true to his vision (and that of Found Associates) and the final result is absolutely stunning. The exterior of his London home exudes the original traditional design while the interiors are a bit more playful.
More of the transformation can be seen at Living Etc.

Ooh, the exterior is soooo charming, and the interior equally so. Love it.
Oh wow, this place is beautiful!
very nice. respectful of the history and modern at the same time. though I would like to see a little bit more colour- maybe some beautful old kelims or some pieces of art? but thats just me.
Yes, yes, yes. Gorgeous home.
Oh, those windows!! Gimme, gimme!
I think I could live there rather happily. Beautifully done.
My first thought? That somewhere on AT someone was thinking, "If only those dark kitchen cupboards were painted white with same darling little knobs from Anthropologie!"
Random, but there you go.
I like the comfortable masculinity of the interiors.
Living Etc. is my favourite magazine, hands down. Whenever we have friends come for a visit in the USA, I ask them to grab me whatever copies they can get their hands on.
