We've talked about many fabulous piggy banks in the past. There were great DIY projects, bird cages, some origami options, and even this dual savings option. But what about the money that goes inside of them? Instead of spending his savings on the latest video game, this 7-year-old donated his money instead. Every last penny.

Eco-friendly blog Treehugger recently wrote about Andrew Kirz who has been diligently saving his money for the past two years. What did he want to do with it when it was time to pull the plug and count up his savings? Most kids would spend it on a toy, entertainment or possibly even food. Not Andrew. Andrew gave the entire contents ($137.88), to The Nature Conservancy in San Francisco.

Although many children might not want to do the same, many if given the option might. So make sure to talk about the importance of charity and giving (we'll save the lesson on tax write offs for later), and see if your kids might want to donate to a charity near you.
