As featured in Dwell, this 1,357-square-foot, 1960s beach house was in need of some work. It was updated beautifully, preserving its mid-century style while also being made to feel completely contemporary.
We love spotting the current touches (hello, flat screen TV) that give this away as a contemporary home. The furnishings - some period and some not - are absolutely perfectly chosen for the house. We're also digging the blue and gray color selection against the original natural wood shell of the house. See more at Dwell.

what the heck is going on with the base of the chair in the first photo?!
It's a swivel chair.
Those subtle slabs of gray really breathe new life into it.
Absolutely beautiful. I had the same question about the base of the chair. I can see that there's a swivel but it seems to be more than that. It's odd the way the legs look well in front of the seat.
I happened onto a site where you can purchase the Eames molded plastic chairs with different legs. Of course, now that I'm interested in purchase them, I cannot find the site, does anyone know the URL?
When I first saw this post I thought- is this real? and my husband also thought- no, this can't be real. and then we saw it was from Dwell. and we realised, it wasn't real.
Why, you don't you think it is "real" since it was in Dwell? I don't think they style their stuff much more than anyone else on this site, they are just more minimalist...
