Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
From designer Desi: The client wanted to feel as though he was at a Kimpton Hotel. The aesthetic is modern but still warm and inviting. It is a place where the client can come home at the end of a long day and simply relax. The base of the living room is neutral with pops of color from art and accessories. The bed is kept simple with white linens from Crane & Canopy. His loft apartment is located in a downtown Minneapolis historic building.
Because the unit is a rental I had to work with what was there (flooring, paint colors, etc). There was also the possibility that the client would move to a different unit in the building so I took special care to select items that could easily be used in a space with a different layout.
The space features a soaring ceiling with an equally high window. To break up the scale of the space I designed custom color block drapery. The harsh can lights in the space were also an issue — to make the space feel more intimate I utilized several floor lamps.
Thanks, Desi Creswell!
