Dutch designer Yvonne Hulst and Spanish designer Alberto Cortes have a small empire of gorgeously decorated holiday rental homes in romantic places like Bali, Morocco, and Ibiza. The Ryad Dyor is their Marrakech retreat, and just checking out the photos is like a mini vacation.
The traditional courtyard building is over 300 years old, but it's been updated with modern grays, browns, and ochres. Intricate patterning is everywhere in Marrakech, and the Ryad Dyor has its fair share, but for every lacy, detailed metal grill there's an open expanse of blank wall — in other words, the designers were careful to balance traditional influences with modern sensibilities. There's also a nice mix of African and European furnishings, textiles, and accessories.

Amen. I love it all. Rich, simple and elegant. I can't gush enough.
Thanks for this post! I've been trying to figure out how I'd go about combining modern and Moroccan elements since I have many pictures from the Alhambra in Spain that I'd like to incorporate into my decor. This makes it a bit clearer in my head. :)
I love the classic feel of this Riad with the modern clean touches. I must go back!
