When I read this piece by Sweet Paul Magazine I was instantly transported back to grade school when our teachers would line us up & sketch our silhouettes against the wall…
The DIY versions in Sweet Paul Magazine are decidedly more modern and adorn everything from lampshades to throw pillows. I love the way he uses them in such unexpected ways, juxtaposing them against different colors and patterns or playing up their simple, graphic nature in stark black and white. Especially sweet are the silhouettes printed on old pages from books.

what is liquid allpaper?
sorry, what is liquid wallpaper?
Just returned from a trip to England with an amazing c.1820 silhouette. The gentleman in question now lives on my living room wall. He's currently engaged in a staring contest with a carved, wooden Thai dragon hanging from my window blinds.
I absolutely love the paint strokes in the old versions of silhouettes-- they create a slightly shaded, opaque effect. I imagine with photoshop one could create a similar effect using photographs of friends and family.
