It's not often that we get a chance to talk about displaying a family tree in your home. We usually leave that sort of thing up to the folks over at Ohdeedoh. There aren't too many modern twists on this age old idea but artist, Anders Nilsen had to do something awesome, after all this home has been featured in Dwell! There's a video right this way…

Anders Nilsen recently did this large install of 10,000 buttons and homeowner Tereasa Surratt knew she had to have a similar look in her own home. Her space is modern and fresh (check it out over at Dwell) so your normal shabby chic, papercraft version wasn't going to cut it.

Nilsen partnered with our friends over at the Busy Beaver Button Co. and came up with a new fresh take on the family tree. The video above shows 6 generations of family in 984 fragments of photos, fabric and memories. The Busy Beaver crew assembled each button top and then the buttons were attached to the wall with what appears to be moldable plumbers epoxy.

The end result is simply stunning and is a great reminder that your family doesn't just have to be in frames hanging on your walls, there's all sorts of ways to get the job done!
