A Music Skirt to Set the Tone

A Music Skirt to Set the Tone

It's the time of year when I'm starting to feel a major case of cabin fever. The cheery holiday decorations were taken down long ago and these short winter days are starting to get to me. I try to keep myself sane this time of year by searching around for little DIY projects to give me and my home a little boost of style. Projects like this cute idea for a sheet music table skirt!

I previously wrote about using player piano music as DIY wallpaper and absolutely fell in the love with the idea. As a music fan, I love the idea of surrounding myself with something tunes related. I'm not quite ready for the full wallpaper treatment but I could manage this DIY sheet music table skirt from Holly and Sean at Life in the Fun Lane.

Making this little table skirt was as simple as folding the sheet music in a box pleat pattern and then using painters tape to attach it to the underside of the table. Holly decided to use painters tape on this project so that it would truly be a temporary project. When she tires of the look or wants to move it to a different table, the painters tape will make it easy to remove.

I think this would be a fun wintry project that would add a whimsical, old fashioned touch to a home. This would also be an ideal project if you're trying to hide an ugly outlet or jumble of cords under a table.
