Family: Naomi, Steve & Hope (2)
Location: Washington, DC
We wanted to create a fun space on the deck where our daughter Hope could play music so we decided to make a musical playground from several different items (wind chimes, xylophone parts, drums, boom whackers).
What we didn't expect, is that her aunt, uncles and even we spend lots of time banging around and making music.
We have terrible grass out in our backyard so we have created some play areas using mulch (around her play house) to also help ward away the bugs and expanded our gardens.
Sounds like you've got the makings for a little family orchestra! Thanks Naomi!
Would you like to share your family's outdoor space or outdoor project?

This is awesome! I would be playing on it too—makes me want to build one for myself.
Thanks for the cool post!

i love this! (though i think my neighbors may not)
I'm an elementary teacher, and have to say I loooooove this! We're in an apartment, and no balcony, but my almost 2 year old has still played all of those. We love the Boomwhackers! (So do my students)
Thanks everyone, we had a lot of fun making the musical playground. The Boomwhackers are a big hit with kids of all ages (they are tuned pipes that play different notes when you bang them).
Love it. But yes, our neighbors (apartment building) would kill us.
